Chandigarh: Senior Congress leader and Chandigarh MP Manish Tewari on Saturday said the Chandigarh administration should take prompt action on employees’ issues like granting bonus and pending salary to outsourced workers ahead of Diwali.
Inaugurating the 7th delegates’ conference of the co-ordination committee of the govt employees and workers of UT Chandigarh, Tewari lent support to the UT employees and appealed to the administration to accept their demands at the earliest.

Over 500 delegates from 37 unions and 60 observers participated in the conference.
The MP praised the employees for working in difficult conditions and urged the administration to increase the posts in accordance with the increased work.
Apart from this, Chandigarh Congress president H S Lucky also addressed the conference and supported the demands of the employees.
A report was presented by general secretary Rakesh Kumar in which the struggles made by the co-ordination committee, the achievements and future works to be taken up were explained in detail.

Kumar claimed that the Chandigarh administration was not serious about the demands of the employees. The co-ordination committee has been raising demands for a long time for making a secure policy for outsourced employees, equal pay for equal work, bonus for outsourced workers, removal of errors in DC rates and filling up of vacant posts, he said.
