‘No jobs given’: Farmers hold protest, warn of ‘rail roko’
Amritsar: The Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee (KMSC), Punjab, on Tuesday held a protest at the deputy commissioner’s office in support of their demands, including jobs and compensation for the families of farmers who lost their lives during the farmers’ morcha. They also warned of ‘rail roko’ if their demands were not met by 12 pm on Wednesday.
Talking to the mediapersons, KMSC leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said they had not only demanded compensation and jobs for the family members of farmers who lost their lives during the ‘Delhi Morchas’, but also compensation for those injured in a bus accident while returning from the Shambhu border protest site.

He said they had also taken up issues related to drugs, stubble burning, thefts, challenges regarding the ‘Bharat Mala’ project, and scarcity of the DAP fertiliser.
Other leaders who spoke on the occasion expressed dissatisfaction with the alleged indifferent attitude of the officials, stating that there was no satisfactory action taken by the administration on any of their demands aside from compensation for the “martyrs”.
“We do not wish to disrupt train services. That is why we have given an ultimatum to govt until tomorrow 12 pm to address their issues. No trains will be blocked until Wednesday noon. However, if the govt does not concede to our demands, we will be forced to block the railway lines,” said KMSC leader Gurbachan Singh Chabba..
