Cuttack: A 22-year-old man died after his car fell into a canal in Cuttack’s Bamphakud on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Animesh Jena, a resident of the Bamphakud area under Cuttack Sadar police station limits. Locals noticed a car submerged in the Bamphakud canal on Tuesday morning and alerted fire services personnel and the police. They rushed to the scene and managed to retrieve the car after a 25-minute rescue operation.
The authorites found Jena’s lifeless body in the driver’s seat.
Additional DCP Anil Mishra said, “As per the preliminary investigation, Jena was driving home late on Tuesday night when he lost control of the car and plunged into the canal. The canal was filled with water, and he was trapped inside. We suspect he died in the car, but the exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained.” TNN
