New Delhi: A 32-year-old man with mental health issues was allegedly beaten to death with rods and sticks by a group of boys in Rohini's Prem Nagar on Monday. The man had earlier broken the glass of a neighbour's tempo, which led to an altercation. Later that evening, he was assaulted by the group.
Police received a PCR call at 11.18pm on Monday, reporting the death of a person in Agar Nagar.
Officers from Prem Nagar police station arrived at the scene and found an unconscious man with multiple injuries. He was immediately taken to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival. The victim has been identified as
Deepak.
Deepak's 62-year-old father stated that earlier that day, his son had broken the glass of a neighbour's tempo around 9.20pm. Later, Deepak left the house and went to the street, where he was suddenly attacked by a group of boys who brutally beat him up with rods and sticks before fleeing the scene.
DCP (Rohini) Guriqbal Singh Sidhu said a case had been registered under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
