ThinkAG Summit explores potential of AI in farming
Panaji: The ThinkAG Harvesting Tomorrow Summit, held on Tuesday in Goa, brought together leading experts to explore the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in agriculture.
“Agriculture is one of the oldest industries in the world, yet it remains one of the least digitised and tech-enabled sectors today,” said Chintan Shah, director, digital native business, Google Cloud, Google.

While AI is already making strides in this area, such as utilising satellite imagery to analyse agricultural landscapes, one of the most pressing challenges is the lack of access that farmers have to reliable information.
“AI can bridge the knowledge gap rapidly. We’ve witnessed its success in various sectors. The question now is how to make it relevant in agriculture. The bigger impact will come from agri-tech startups who are building innovative solutions that did not exist earlier,” Shah said. By leveraging data and advanced technologies, he said, these startups can tackle long-standing issues such as disease detection in crops, ensuring farmers are equipped with the tools they need to thrive in an increasingly complex environment.
