Govt extends last admission date for cl 9 & 11 to Aug 31

GURGAON: The state education board has decided to extend the deadline of school admissions for classes 9 and 11 to August 31.
Due to the recent violence in Nuh, the admissions were halted after the closure of schools and internet ban.
The last date for admissions was August 14 till now. Both government and private schools are directed to comply with the order for the session 2023-24.
Model Sanskriti schools will however not be bound by the decision as they are now affiliated to CBSE.
A senior official from the department told TOI, “Compartmental exams are still going on for several subjects. This might be the reason that students could not apply for admissions in class 11. Further, the Nuh situation also led to a delay as the process had come to a halt in the area and the principals from the region had demanded for an extension.”
Rahimuddin, principal of Government Senior Secondary School in Khedla, told TOI, “We could have taken about 50 new admissions during this time. But, the closure has left us behind. Moreover, both students and parents are now sceptical about joining schools.”
He added that only two students have come to apply for admission in the past week ever since the schools reopened. “We are living in fear. No extension of dates can help until we are able to convince the villagers that it is now safe to send their kids to schools.”
