Guwahati: Aam Aadmi Party (AAM) on Sunday said the party will contest the Assam panchayat elections slated for November independently and ruled out the possibility of an election alliance in the state with
Congress or any other INDIA bloc partner.
Manoj Dhanowar, the newly appointed state president of AAP, said, “As this is a grassroots-level election, it’s crucial for us to build strong connections with our grassroots volunteers.
This will help citizens get to know us, our objectives and what we stand for. That’s why we believe it is important to contest the panchayat polls independently.”
He added that the party is open to holding discussions with other alliance parties, if necessary, during the state assembly elections.
Dhanohar also outlined certain goals that the party aims to achieve in the state. “The condition of govt schools in Assam is deplorable. Improving the govt education sector is our primary goal. we aim to establish world-class govt schools in Assam.,” Dhanohar said.
