Guwahati: Assam governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya on Saturday inaugurated the second International Day of Peace in Kokrajhar. He highlighted the significance of the Bodoland Peace Accord of 2020 for ushering in autonomy, development, stability and lasting peace in the Bodoland Territorial Region.
The governor paid tribute to Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma and expressed gratitude to the people of Bodoland for their role in fostering peace and progress in the region.
Acharya stated that the International Day of Peace, celebrated as part of the Bodoland Happiness Mission launched in 2023, has been instrumental in promoting peace, happiness and sustainable development in BTR.
He said the Bodoland Happiness Mission emerged from a strong desire to heal the wounds left by decades of conflict and the mission has been successful in creating a peaceful and harmonious future for BTR’s growth and achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Besides paying rich tributes to Bodofa Brahma, the governor also thanked all sections of the people of Bodoland for making peace and development a reality in BTR.
