Students with impaired speech perform mime acts
Guwahati: A group of students with speech disabilities from Bhawri Devi Sawargi Government Higher Secondary School for the Hearing Impaired in Kahilipara performed mime acts in various locations around the city on Tuesday coinciding with the beginning of International Sign Language Week, reports Tathagata Bhattacharjee.
The students aimed to raise awareness about the inclusion of individuals with speech and hearing impairments in society and to emphasize the importance of sign language as a means of communication.

The students performed in several locations, including Arya Nagar, Dighalipukhuri, Ulubari, and Bhangagarh, where they used mime acts and placards to depict the societal issue of drug abuse. The Assam Association of the Deaf (AAD) and the social justice and welfare department collaborated to organize the entire initiative.
