He stated that in 2017, the street vendors were allowed to sit on the street side at Old Jail, Chowpatty Supermarket, Kirana Bazar, Chappal Bazar, Kapada Bazar, Janata Bazar, Datt Mandir, City bus stand, etc.
The then urban development minister had directed the then KCC commissioner to check the Old Jail Chowpatty site and provide basic amenities such as drinking water, toilets, and electricity to the street vendors in the supermarket area.
He alleged that since 2017, no basic facilities have been provided. Street vendors were allowed near govt ITI college, MSK Mill Road, Kanni Market, Aland Checkpost, Humanabad Base, Gunj, Mijguri, and many other places in the city too but no facilities have been provided till today, he stated. The street vendors are experiencing a lot of problems. As the vendors are doing business sitting on the side of the road, motorists and common people are also suffering, he said.
