Hyderabad: Seven youngsters, including six from Saroornagar, were injured in a clash between two groups over a
road rage incident at Choutuppal on Monday. The clash occurred after a few youth from Choutuppal questioned youngsters from Hyderabad over driving their SUV rashly in the narrow lanes of Choutuppal town in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri on Monday.
Irked by the behaviour of locals, the Hyderabad youth allegedly attacked them with knives and sticks.
People from both sides sustained injuries in the incident, and police have registered separate cases for attempt to murder against both groups. The youth from Hyderabad were all petty traders, while the locals from Choutuppal were employed with private firms in their locality.
Six youngsters from the city went to Choutuppal to meet their friend at Shivaji Nagar, according to the Choutuppal police.
They partied till night and started towards Hyderabad in their SUV. While driving through the narrow lanes in the area, locals objected to them for rash driving, stating that people moving in the lanes might get hurt.
This led to an argument and exchange of words between both groups, and the city youth attacked the locals with sticks and knives. In retaliation, the locals thrashed the city youth with sticks. Meanwhile, locals in large numbers gathered at the spot.
Fearing for their lives, the city youth started running from the spot and entered a house. During the process of escaping from the crowd, one of them jumped from a building and sustained injuries.
Choutuppal station house officer G Manmadha Kumar said the injured persons were undergoing treatment at different hospitals and were out of danger. "The cases are under investigation. Based on the findings and after their discharge from the hospital, the investigation will proceed," he added.
