Itanagar: A man accused of raping a minor was arrested in Guwahati on Friday.
He had been on the run for six years.
“He was nabbed by a special team of police,” SP (Capital) Rohit Rajbir Singh said, adding that the cops were assisted by the district detection team.
The SP said the accused has been booked under Section 376 (2) (i) of the IPC, read with Section 6 of the Pocso Act.
The case is currently under trial before the special judge (Pocso) in Yupia, he added.
The accused had been on the run since 2018 after being released on bail for sexually assaulting a minor girl in 2015, the SP said.
The police team worked tirelessly, employing both technical and human intelligence, to track down the fugitive, Singh said.
