JAIPUR: Dense fog and mist not only affected air, road and rail traffic but also guided the mercury to take a dip and brought shivering cold conditions on Wednesday. Sikar remained coldest in the state with a minimum temperature of 3.8°Celsius (C).
People in Jaipur woke up amid dense foggy conditions that continued from 5.30am to 9.30am. “Visibility was poor beyond 50 metres at many places in Jaipur till 8.30am.
Thereafter, it was poor beyond 100metres. By 10.30am the fog cover vanished and it was mainly clear sky,” said a Met official in Jaipur.
A minimum temperature of 7.8°C was recorded in Jaipur and it was almost 4°C below what was recorded on Tuesday. Also, with active northerly winds, nip in the air was felt. In the afternoon, despite a bright sunny day, a maximum temperature of 21.4°C was recorded.
The morning fog affected air traffic from the Jaipur airport. “At least 22 flights got delayed in the morning,” said a spokesperson of the airport.
Likewise, traffic on highways connecting Jaipur to Agra, Ajmer and Delhi was chaotic during morning hours. Long jam of buses and trucks was seen from Jaipur to Kothputli and other areas including Jaipur to Dudu in the morning hours. Early morning Jaipur bound trains also got delayed.
