Jaipur: Governor Haribhau Bagade on Tuesday endorsed a proposal to offer a 25% discount on accommodation for serving and retired armed forces personnel at guesthouses of Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC).
The announcement was made during the 17th State Sainik Board meeting held at Raj Bhavan. Bagade highlighted that the proposal, which has been a long-standing demand of the Sainik Board, will be forwarded to the state govt for formal approval.
The discount would be applicable once the state approves the proposal. He emphasised the need for sensitive and timely implementation of welfare measures for ex-servicemen, war widows, and their dependents. He urged officials to prioritise resolving issues related to ex-servicemen across departments, including revenue and police, stressing the importance of a committed approach towards the welfare of veterans and their families.
Key discussions in the meeting included initiatives for providing employment opportunities to the dependents and adopted children of ex-servicemen. The board also reviewed the practical implementation of existing recruitment schemes. Minister of soldier welfare Colonel Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore also attended the meet.
