Jaipur, Kota jointly reports 32% of state’s dengue cases

JAIPUR: Jaipur and Kota remained the worst dengue affected districts in the state so far this year. Jaipur has reported 2,050 dengue cases in 2023 (from January 1 to November 22), and in the same period, 2036 persons were tested positive for dengue in Kota. The two districts collectively reported 4,086 dengue cases, accounting for 32% of the dengue cases reported in the state.

As per the health department report, no dengue death has happened since September in the state. Six persons have died in the state due to dengue till November 22. Sriganganagar reported 656 cases till November 22 in 2023, while in the same period, Barmer reported (587), and Alwar reported 559 cases.

Sinapic acid derivatives could beused to combat dengue: Study
A recent study has found that sinapic acid, commonly found in spices, fruits, and oils like green and dry olive, may serve as a potential antidote for dengue virus. The study, conducted by researchers from Allahabad University and Malaysia, has been published in the journal 'Aspects of Molecular Medicine'. Sinapic acid derivatives have shown positive interactions with DENV proteins, although caution is advised regarding their safety. This discovery brings hope in the battle against dengue.
