Jaipur: City police on Tuesday busted a mobile robbery gang. Police arrested a man and detained a juvenile.
The arrests were made after a series of incidents were reported involving mobile snatching by motorcycle-borne criminals in Mansarovar and nearby areas.
On Sept 22, around 3am, a resident of Mansarovar reported that two unidentified men on a motorcycle snatched his phone while he was talking outside his house.
Police registered an FIR and formed a special team to investigate the case.
The team reviewed CCTV footage from the area and gathered leads. Based on this information, they traced the suspects to a slum on Sultan Nagar Road.
Police apprehended the prime suspect, Vikas alias Vivek, and detained a juvenile accomplice. The motorcycle used in the crime and several stolen mobile phones were recovered from their possession.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to their involvement in nearly two dozen mobile snatching incidents across different areas of Jaipur. The adult suspect has been arrested, and the juvenile has been sent to a correctional home.
