Jaipur: Rajasthan Staff Selection Board (RSSB) is in the process of modifying regulations for common eligibility test (CET) to provide more convenience to candidates. The proposed changes include extending the validity of the CET score from one year to three years.
Maj Gen Alok Raj, chairperson of RSSB, said on social media, “If you are thinking whether to give the CET exam or not, then take a decision carefully because we are trying to make this CET score valid not only for one year but for three to five years.
Prepare and give your best performance.”
Meanwhile, unemployed youth organisations in Rajasthan have been voicing their concerns regarding the allocation of exam centres for this year's CET. They have raised objections to the fact that many students have been assigned centres located far from their home districts.
The organisation said that due to the distance, many candidates, especially females, might not be able to sit for the exam as they do not have anyone to accompany them while travelling.
The protesters argue that this arrangement poses significant challenges for the candidates in terms of reaching the exam venue, causing inconvenience and hardship.
Ravindra Chaudhary, state coordinator of Rajasthan Berozgaar Ekikrit Mahasangh, said, “Examination centres should be given in the home district itself, but many candidates have been given centres which are 300-500 kilometre away for which the candidate will have to travel a day in advance. Candidates will have to reach the examination centre two hours before and on the day of the exam they cannot take the risk of travelling from far away, therefore they will be forced to spend an additional amount on lodging too.”
Officials from RSSB said that the allotment of centres was done keeping in mind execution of additional security measures to be implemented from this year. First preference for home district was given to female and specially abled candidates. After that, other candidates were allotted centres.
"Due to more number of applications this year, we had to adjust candidates to other districts as security measures have increased and not all districts have centres that comply with all the security norms. Maximum centres have been set up in Jaipur, Kota, districts which has increased the distance for many candidates," said the chairperson.
Officials from Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation said that candidates appearing for the CET will be eligible to travel free of cost in any of the ordinary and long-distance buses from midnight Sept 26 till 11.59pm on Sept 29. The CET exam is scheduled to take place on Sept 27-28.
Officials also said that all depot managers across the state have been instructed to make special arrangements for additional buses, ensure that existing buses operate smoothly, and set up temporary bus stands in coordination with the district collectors as approximately 13 lakh candidates will be appearing for the exam.
