JAMSHEDPUR: City residents are facing traffic woes as the main road is blocked from 4pm till midnight due to the Ganesh Puja fair being organised at Kadma from September 6 till September 22. The problems multiplied manifold for commuters after the administration erected barricades on alternative roads as part of the security measures for the PM’s visit to Jamshedpur on September 15.

A resident of Ulyan, Anju Adikari, said, “My husband developed chest pain and had to be rushed to a hospital in Bistupur on Saturday evening. The ambulance had to take a longer route hours as the main road was closed. The stalls should be allowed on the ground and not be allowed to encroach upon the road.”
Deputy town commissioner of Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee Krishna Kumar said, “No permission has been given by the civic body for closing the roads. Also, no permission has been sought by the organiser to put up stalls on the main road.”
A member of Ganesh puja committee, Mohan Rao, said, “The puja is organised on the ground located at Kadma. Permission is sought from the district administration for stalls and joyrides for the fair organised around the pandal on the open space. We haven’t given green signal to anyone to put up stalls on the main road.”
