Kochi: Perumbavoor police arrested two men on Tuesday in connection with the death of a man during a drunken brawl.
The arrested persons have been identified as Ajims (35) and Shafeer (48), both from Perumbavoor. The case pertains to the death of Shamsudheen of Perumbavoor, who died of injuries sustained during a drunken brawl on Monday.
According to police, the incident happened near an outlet of the Beverages Corporation in Perumbavoor.
Police said an argument between the three men led to the scuffle. The accused allegedly hit the victim using a piece of wood, leading him to sustaining the fatal injury.
The accused would be produced in court on Wednesday, said police. The body of the victim was handed over to the kin after an autopsy on Tuesday.
Youth held for causing ruckus at hospital: A 23-year-old youth was arrested for creating ruckus at a hospital and trying to attack the doctor.
According to police, around 12:30am on Tuesday, Emmanuel Allesh (23), of Fort Kochi, was taken to a govt hospital in Thoppumpady by passersby after he was found lying along the road with a head injury.
The accused soon became violent. He created a tense atmosphere at the hospital by trying to attack people with a stone. The doctor provided him initial treatment when he calmed down and referred him to Ernakulam general hospital since he had a head injury. He then attempted to attack the doctor.
The police soon removed him from the hospital and registered a case based on a complaint from the hospital superintendent. He was subsequently arrested and produced in court after a medical examination. He was remanded to judicial custody.
