Meeting on over Kolhapur circuit bench today
Kolhapur: A meeting of all-party people's representatives and bar association members from six districts will be held at 11.30 am on Sunday to discuss the establishment of a Bombay high court circuit bench in Kolhapur. The meeting will be held at the govt resthouse in Kolhapur.
The bar council members of six districts — Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, and Solapur — will be coming together to press for the long-pending demand of the circuit bench and to decide on a further action plan, said Sarjerao Khot, the president of the District Bar Association and convener of the Bombay High Court, Kolhapur Bench Action Committee.

"Lawyers, parties, and social organisations have been seeking a HC bench in Kolhapur for 40 years. On Aug 10, CM Eknath Shinde had said he would hold a meeting with the bench action committee within a week, and discuss the matter with the Chief Justice in a joint meeting. On Aug 22, the CM said a meeting letter had been sent to the Chief Justice. Apart from assurances, nothing has happened."
