Lucknow: The UP Bridge Corporation has submitted a positive feedback report to the state govt regarding the construction of 833m railway overbridge between South City and Rajni Khand. This development aims to alleviate traffic issues for approximately 4 lakh residents of Rajni Khand, Telibagh, and South City.
Deputy project manager Amit Arya of the Setu Nirman Unit-II, Lucknow, addressed the secretary of the UP govt, stating that residents of South City, located on Rae Bareli Road, submitted a request on Sept 1, 2024, for the construction of the overbridge.
Following this, a letter from the undersecretary of the UP govt dated Sept 5, 2024, initiated a process to test the feasibility of the project.
The proposal includes construction of a four-lane ROB costing about Rs 177.18 crore.
The report said as there was currently no gate at this railway crossing, the entire cost will be borne by the state govt, with construction contingent on the availability of financial resources.
Arya said: "Once completed, this overbridge will lead to improved traffic flow, time and fuel savings, and reduced pollution levels. Additionally, the enhancement of safe and smooth traffic conditions is expected to boost the local economy."
