College girl jumps to death, kin cite depression
Ludhiana: A 20-year-old woman, studying BA second year, allegedly committed suicide on Tuesday morning.
Kirandeep Kaur, who hailed from Chak Kania Kalan village in Moga district, jumped from the roof of private university’s building near Chowkiman in Jagraon. Panic spread on the university’s campus after Kirandeep jumped.A source said university authorities rushed the student to a hospital, where she was declared dead.

Surjit Singh, father of deceased, said Kirandeep had been under depression and they had even gotten her admitted to a hospital in the past, but doctors told them there was no need for it. He added his daughter had been going to college happily, and they don’t know what happened.
The university made a call to the family of the deceased to inform them about the death. ASI Sukhminder Singh said they have initiated inquest proceedings under Section 174 (unnatural death) of CrPC. tnn
