Madurai: Kanyakumari district administration has informed Madras high court that the national flag has been hoisted on a 147-foot flag mast in Kanyakumari district. The court was hearing a public interest litigation filed by A Vijaykumar seeking a direction to the authorities to take steps to once again hoist the national flag at Zero Point in the district.
A division bench of Justice R Subramanian and Justice L Victoria Gowri observed that it has been brought to the court’s notice that the national flag has been hoisted on 147-foot-tall flag mast in Kanyakumari.
The authorities shall maintain the flag and ensure that there is no dishonour to it due to the climatic condition in the area, the judges said and disposed of the petition.
