Shamli: Sonu Prajapati, 42, a resident of Shamli's Chandenamal village, has embarked on a journey to Lucknow to seek justice after allegedly falling victim to a loan fraud. Sonu had applied for a loan of Rs 4.75 lakh from
Punjab National Bank's Jalalabad branch on Nov 16, 2022, under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Loan Scheme to support his business of making earthen pots.
Prajapati alleged that branch manager Manjit Singh colluded with agents Sanjay Rana and Ankur Kumar to transfer his loan amount to the account of one Kavita.
When he went to the bank to report the fraud, he was treated rudely.
On Oct 13, 2023, Prajapati filed a complaint at Thanabhavan police station against the four on the basis of which an FIR was lodged against them IPC sections 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 420 (cheating).
Frustrated by the lack of action, Sonu decided to take matters into his own hands. He set off on his bicycle to Lucknow on Sept 20, determined to present his case to chief minister Yogi Adityanath at the Janata Darbar.
SHO Thanabhawan Virendra Kumar told TOI, "We have already submitted a chargesheet against the accused in court, and further action will be taken as per the court's orders since the relevant sections do not provide for arrest."
