Thane: Shiv Sena (UBT)'s former MP Rajan Vichare has alleged a rise in the number of bogus elector names in the recently-published list of voters for the Thane Lok Sabha constituency, blaming the district election department for negligence.
Vichare, who addressed the media over the issue after meeting district officials, said his party has identified nearly 1.9 lakh bogus voters registered across the six assembly segments of the Thane Lok Sabha constituency alone in the revised rolls published on Aug 30.
The neta said this was despite the party providing a list of nearly 1.6 lakh bogus voter names that were identified and presented to the administration after the primary list was published in the first week of August.
"After a revised list was published, we spotted an increase in the number of bogus voters," he said.
