MUMBAI: A minor disagreement over a Rs 25 auto-rickshaw fare led to a confrontation, resulting in the death of 24-year-old man, Muslim Chakkan Ali, a garment factory worker.
The incident occurred around 1:30am near Palace Residency Bar on LBS Road, Kurla. According to the police, the altercation began when the deceased asked his co-passenger, Saif Zahid Ali, to pay the fare.

Saif refused, insisting that Muslim should cover the cost.
The dispute quickly escalated into a physical fight, during which the deceased sustained a fatal injury to his forehead. “CCTV footage from the scene confirmed the scuffle between the two men,” said Datta Nalawade, DCP, Crime Branch. Saif Zahid Ali, who attempted to flee to Uttar Pradesh after the incident, was apprehended at Kalyan Railway Station. Initially, an Accidental Death Report was registered at Kurla Police Station, but authorities are now expected to upgrade the charges to murder.
