Mandya: The state govt is now trying to add a new attraction to Mysuru during this
Dasara. Congress MLAs from the Mysuru region are now touring Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand along with officials from the district administration and the Cauvery Neeravari Nigama Limited (CNNL) with the aim of launching Cauveri Aarti on lines with Ganga Aarti.
After watching Ganga Aarti at Haridwar, the Cauvery Aarti Study Committee led by Mandya district minister N Cheluvarayaswamy watched the Aarti at Varanasi on Saturday.
The team will return to Mandya on Sunday.
It can be recalled that deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar, who holds the major irrigation portfolio, proposed Cauveri Aarti in
KRS dam premises on the same lines as the Ganga Aarti while offering ‘bagina' to the dam. The KRS dam, and Cauvery River bank near Nimishamba Temple, Srirangapatna, are currently shortlisted for holding the Cauvery Aarti.
According to MLC Dinesh Guligowda, the delegation interacted with the office bearers of the Ganga Maha Sabha which oversees Ganga Aarti. "They are very positive about such an initiative even on the banks of the River Cauvery," he said. "MLAs from old Mysuru region, including Ramanagara, Hassan, Mandya, Mysuru, Chamarajanagar including officials from Mandya district administration, and CNNL are part of the delegation," he said.
Meanwhile, Cheluvarayaswamy stated that the committee will soon submit a report to the govt. He expressed confidence that Cauvery Aarti will be launched during Dasara.

Kapila Aarti at Nanjangud?
Nanjangud MLA Darshan Dhruvanarayan, who is part of the delegation, said he is exploring the possibility of launching such an initiative even in Nanjangud, one of the popular temples of the country. "My thought is to launch the one day Kapila Aarti during the Shivaratri celebrations in 2025. If it goes out well, we can plan daily ‘aarti'," he told STOI.
