2 beat man to death on suspicion of theft, held
Ghaziabad: Police arrested two brothers on Tuesday for allegedly beating a man to death earlier this month. The duo had suspected the victim of attempting to steal a vehicle, police said.
The accused were identified as Amichandra Singh (50), a resident of Ghazipur in Delhi, and his younger brother Rajendra (39). The brothers are caretakers of a parking area in Ghazipur, Delhi.
ACP (Indirapuram) Swatantra Singh said that on Sept 14 staff from MMG hospital in the city informed cops of a man's death.

The body was later identified as Deepak, who worked as a rag picker in Khoda and Ghazipur. His family was informed and a postmortem was conducted, and reports revealed that Deepak was beaten to death, he said.
"Investigation revealed that he was found at Chaudhary Charan Singh Gate near UP Gate on the night of Sept 13. A passerby had brought him to MMG hospital," the ACP added.
During investigation, cops located Deepak's friend Sandeep, who provided a statement to the authorities about the incident.
According to Sandeep, on the evening of Sept 13, he and Deepak had broken into a mini truck that was parked at the parking lot where the brothers worked to consume drugs. However, when the accused spotted the two, they thought they were trying to steal the vehicle and raised the alarm. They then attempted to flee the spot.

"The accused managed to apprehend them and proceeded to physically assault both victims. Sandeep and Deepak managed to escape, and Sandeep fled towards Delhi. He went to the hospital for medical treatment," said ACP Singh.
The accused told cops that they followed Deepak and managed to catch him once again. They beat him badly with a cricket bat before leaving him on the road, Singh added.
An FIR has been registered against the two brothers under relevant BNS sections.
