Raipur: Bilaspur district administration has ordered an inquiry into the alleged death of a 56-year-old woman after receiving a vaccine at the Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Science (CIMS). The committee, formed by the district collector, will investigate the matter and submit its report within three days. The collector, Awanish Sharan, assured that stringent action will be taken against those found responsible for the woman's death.
CIMS superintendent Dr Sujit Nayak confirmed that the committee has already begun its investigation. Additionally, the district collector has instructed the hospital management to develop a proposal for a one-time registration system to relieve patients from the burden of repeated registration processes. Once registered, patients should be able to proceed directly to the relevant department without queuing at the registration counter again.
District collector Awanish Sharan and Bilaspur municipal corporation commissioner Amit Kumar inspected the hospital and directed the establishment of a help desk near the registration counter to assist patients and provide them with necessary information in simple language. A dedicated staff member will be appointed to manage the help desk.
The collector emphasised the importance of cleanliness, instructing the hospital to be cleaned thrice a day at specific times: 7 to 9am, 11am to 1pm, and 5 to 6pm. He warned that negligence in this matter will not be tolerated. The collector also reviewed the ongoing construction work aimed at improving patient services and directed the municipal corporation officials to expedite the drainage construction near the casualty and garden areas. The PWD was instructed to complete the remaining toilet and drainage work within a week.
