Ranchi: Taking a leaf out of Hemant govt’s CM Maiya Samman Yojana, Opposition
BJP too has now announced to launch a similar scheme, GoGo Didi Yojana, from the first month itself if voted to power in the upcoming assembly polls.
Jharkhand BJP’s election co-in-charge and Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday announced their scheme will be much bigger in all terms.
Sarma said, “If the government truly aims to support women's welfare, it should have implemented this scheme much earlier. Why only before the polls? It clearly exhibits the intention of this govt. If this govt is committed to and serious about
women welfare, it should have given the financial assistance for full 60 months (five-year tenure of this govt). However, just by rolling the scheme out now, beneficiaries are barely getting Rs 1000 per month under this scheme for a maximum of one or two months.”
“We are working on GoGo Didi Yojana, which will be bigger and better in size compared to this govt’s existence scheme. We are working out modalities in this regard. At this state, all that I can say that we will immediately implement it from the first month of forming govt,” Sarma said, adding the party’s manifesto for the upcoming assembly polls is in final stages and their new women-centric scheme will be the key component of it.
Since the launch of CM Maiya Samman Yojana two months ago, govt data has claimed it has benefited over 45 lakh women in the age group of 21 to 50. Govt has claimed that the second instalment of Rs 1000 has also been transferred to the bonafide beneficiaries.
Chief minister Hemant Soren had announced this would be a continuous scheme, to ally claims of the opposition parties that it would get discontinued if JMM-Cong-RJD retains power.
Soren has been hitting out at BJP -led govt at the Centre for not giving the state its pending dues in tune of around Rs 1.36 lakh crore in lieu of mining royalty despite the Supreme Court’s order earlier this year.
BJP, which is already out with full force on the ground to woo voters through hectic pre-poll campaigning, is already wary of the impact this state govt’s CM Maiyyan scheme could potentially have in the polls.
