Jamshedpur: Jharkhand HC’s order for a CBI probe into the alleged irregularities in staff recruitment to Vidhan Sabha will have long-term implications, said MLA Saryu Roy.
The legislator on Monday said the CBI probe will expose the role of the Vidhan Sabha and state govt in covering up the appointment scam. “In 2007, when I took up the matter of the irregularities in the appointments, the then Assembly speaker, Alamgir Alam demanded evidence,” Roy said.
He added: “When I handed a CD to the speaker which contained vital information pertaining to the scam, the speaker formed a panel of the Vidhan Sabha to probe the matter.”
Instead of accepting the findings of the probe panel, a new panel of the Vidhan Sabha was constituted to investigate the matter, which didn’t submit the report of the findings till this day, Roy said. The present Vidhan Sabha and the incumbent state government also tried to cover up the scam, he said.
“The CBI probe will identify and expose the people who were behind the illegal appointments in the temple of democracy,” said Roy.
