RANCHI: Council of ministers of the
Hemant Soren govt on Friday cleared a proposal to provide a bonus of Rs 100 per quintal on the minimum support price (MSP) for procuring paddy from the state's farmers in this year's Kharif season.
After the meeting, cabinet secretary Vandana Dadel said, "A bonus of Rs 100 per quintal will be given over and above the Union govt's rates per quintal.
This would additionally cost the exchequer Rs 60 crore."
The Centre has fixed the MSP at Rs 2,320 per quintal for Grade-A paddy and Rs 2,300 per quintal for general grade paddy. The state govt has set a target of procuring six lakh metric tonnes of paddy from Jharkhand's farmers in the ongoing financial year, the agriculture department said.
Moreover, the Soren cabinet approved 36 proposals altogether in Friday's meeting.
Among the proposals approved is the provision of smartphones to 29,000 jal sahiyas under the state department for drinking water and sanitation through direct benefit transfers. "A sum of Rs 34 crore will be obtained through the state contingency fund for the purpose," Dadel said. The cabinet also approved a proposal to hike the dearness allowances of current and retired state government employees effective from January 1 this year. "The DA of retired employees was raised from 230% to 239% while that of current employees was raised from 427% to 443%," Dadel added.
Proposals on road widening, construction and strengthening in several districts were also approved during the meeting.
In Ranchi, Rs 47 crore was approved for the widening and improvement of riding quality of the four-lane road from Birsa Chowk to Jharkhand Mantralaya via the Dhurwa roundabout.
Additionally, the administrative approval of Rs 280.6 crore was granted for the acquisition of land and the building of a 6.95-km road which will connect the Ring Road to Birsa Munda airport in the city. The cabinet also sanctioned another project to install smart classes across 291 govt high schools in the state.
