Bokaro: BJP’s leader of opposition in the West Bengal assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, on Tuesday asserted that the saffron party would secure 90% of the 90 lakh Bengali population in Jharkhand during the upcoming assembly election.
Talking to reporters at the Bokaro airport while going to Chandankyari for a pre-poll rally as part of BJP’s ongoing Parivartan Yatra, Adhikari said, “I assure you that 90% of the Bengali-speaking people in Jharkhand will vote for BJP this time like in Chhattisgarh.” He emphasized that only a BJP govt can combat the illegal infiltration, which he believes threatens nationalism and Hinduism in Jharkhand.
Adhikari lashed out at Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee for allegedly failing to support the BSF in preventing infiltration at 72 points along the border with Bangladesh. He stressed that the infiltration not only affects Bengal but also poses a significant risk to Jharkhand.
He claimed the “ongoing infiltration” of Bangladeshis and Rohingya in Jharkhand is similar to the situation in Assam and West Bengal. “If left unchecked, the infiltration could lead to severe consequences for Sanatan Dharma and nationalism in future,” he cautioned.
To tackle infiltration, Adhikari advocated for a “double-engine govt” for BJP, claiming only the saffron party govt has the capability to ensure security, development and nationalism in Jharkhand. He pointed to the overwhelming support to BJP’s Parivartan Yatra and the party’s recent inclusion of ex-CM Champai Soren in the party as evidence of a growing wave of change in Jharkhand.
