Thiruvananthapuram: It is ironic that the person accused of disrupting Thrissur Pooram is now submitting a report claiming that there was no external interference, said Congress working committee member Ramesh Chennithala on Sunday.
"As expected, the investigation team has made the Thrissur city police commissioner a scapegoat. I am sure that no one anticipated any other report from this team.
It is understood that a 1,300-page illustrated report has been submitted. We will respond in detail once we receive a copy," said Ramesh.
It is unclear whether ADGP (law & order) MR Ajith Kumar meant there was no need for external interference to disrupt the festival, he alleged. "However, we will not let anyone who disrupted the festival go unpunished. Thrissur Pooram is an emotional attachment for both
Kerala and Thrissur," he said.
"
BJP's victory in Thrissur is a deal made to end the Karuvannur cooperative bank corruption investigation. The chief minister and
CPM were engaged in malicious activities, including disrupting the festival, for this purpose," alleged Ramesh.
"After the Lok Sabha elections, investigation into the Karuvannur bank fraud has almost come to an end. Speculations about questioning and arrest of prominent CPM leaders have also ceased now," he said.
Ramesh said that the connection between the disruption of Thrissur Pooram and Karuvannur bank investigation should be investigated to bring out the real facts before the people of the state.
