Panaji: Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday said state govt has submitted a report to Centre with regard to Kadamba Transport Corporation’s (KTC) interstate buses recently being blocked in
Karnataka over the Mhadei issue.
Sawant said he has sought the detailed report from the chief secretary and the director general of police over KTC buses being blocked by people in Karnataka over the Mhadei issue.
“I have directed the chief secretary to speak to his counterpart in Karnataka. The KTC’s interstate service cannot be disturbed,” he said. The chief minister also said that without state govt and the Mhadei Prawah being taken into confidence, Centre will not grant any permission to Karnataka to carry out projects on the Mhadei river. Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah had recently met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and sought clearance for a project on the river.
Reacting to the opposition’s claims that the Mhadei Prawah meeting was held in hostile conditions, Sawant said how many state govt officials attended the meeting is not important. What is important, he said, is how the factual report is prepared. “Members of the authority visited the place where diversion (of the Mhadei’s water) has taken place. We will continue to submit reports to Centre and the Prime Minister. It was me who challenged the Mhadei tribunal’s award in the Supreme Court and that is how the matter is now in the Supreme Court,” he said.
Sawant said govt officials present at the meeting were well-versed with the issue.
