Former cricketer Basit Ali criticized Pakistan batters for their reluctance to play on grassy pitches favoring pacers, suggesting they prefer spin-friendly surfaces. This follows Pakistan's Test series loss to Bangladesh. Ahead of the England series, the PCB hosted a Connection Camp in Lahore with key players and coaches attending. NEW DELHI: Former cricketer Basit Ali has commented on Pakistan's batters, stating they avoid playing on pitches that benefit fast bowlers.
Before Pakistan's upcoming three-match Test series against England, Basit Ali suggested the team will likely prefer spin-friendly pitches. He hinted that Pakistani batters might be reluctant to play on faster surfaces.
"What sort of pitch will you make for the England series? If you make a spin pitch, then who are the spinners that you have? Sajid Khan is at home, and you did not consider Yasir Shah.

Noman Ali played one match and wasn't considered again. Only Zahid Mahmood is left," remarked Basit on his YouTube channel as per ANI.
In the first Test, Pakistan's top-order batsmen, such as Saim Ayub, Abdullah Shafique, Babar Azam, and Shan Masood fell prey to pace bowling in both innings.
"Will you make a grass pitch just like you did against Bangladesh? Pakistan played with four pacers, and at the end, the spinners took wickets. You won't make a quick surface because Pakistan batters are afraid of such a surface," Basit added.
Pakistan recently experienced their first home Test series defeat to Bangladesh. In the first Test match in Rawalpindi, Pakistan included four fast bowlers in their squad, assuming the pitch's grass cover would support them.
However, it was Bangladesh's spinners, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shakib Al Hasan, who posed significant challenges for Pakistan. The duo together took nine wickets, leading to Bangladesh's 10-wicket win over Pakistan.
The Test series against England will commence in Multan on October 7. The second Test will also take place in Multan, starting on October 15. The final Test is scheduled from October 24 to 28 in Rawalpindi.
