Lindsay Arnold is sharing her perspective on growing up Mormon, prompted by watching Hulu’s The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, which follows eight Mormon influencers, known as MomTok, who either adhere to or live adjacent to Mormon teachings. In a video, Arnold begins by saying, “I didn’t even know if I was going to comment on this at all,” before explaining, “I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, otherwise known as being a Mormon.
I’m also a mom. These are some of my thoughts and takeaways from watching the show — me being someone who’s been involved in reality TV for nearly 11 years.”
Arnold reflects on how the church has been a "very positive" influence in her life but acknowledges that everyone's experience is different. “While the church has brought light and positivity to my life, I understand that’s not the case for everyone. This applies to any religion or culture. My experience isn’t someone else’s, and I’m not here to diminish anyone’s experience or voice.”
Arnold also addresses humorous moments in the show that fans have asked her about. Referring to the promotional shots where the women wear matching blue coats, she jokes, “I’ve never matched blue coats with anyone at church.”
She also comments on a scene where the women discuss using laughing gas while getting Botox, calling it a "loophole 'high' for Mormons." Arnold clarifies, “I’ve gotten Botox many times, and my dad and sister are both cosmetic injectors. I’ve never been offered laughing gas, and neither have most of my friends.”
