BENGALURU: Accenture has reset its promotion cycle, shifting it from December to June. This change is aimed at aligning with clients' planning and budgeting processes, providing the company with better visibility of the demand scenario.
“In FY24, many of our promotions globally were made in June instead of December. This timing allowed us to have better visibility of client demand and the confidence to do more promotions in June, as we began planning for our new fiscal year.
As a result, we will continue this approach to timing in FY2025 and beyond,” the company said in its blog post.
Accenture follows a September-August financial year. The tech firm will follow the refreshed promotion calendar for 2025 too. “Going forward, we will permanently shift our primary promotion date to June instead of December, other than for our promotions up to L8 (associate manager or associate principal role) in the Advanced Technology and Operations Centres in India, Argentina, and the Philippines, which will continue their usual quarterly schedule. Moving to June gives us more visibility of our clients' plans and budgets and our own fiscal year momentum.”
However, Accenture clarified that this year, the company is rolling out promotions at levels below MD, based on business needs in areas of growth. “A small number of promotions to MD, based on business needs in areas of growth. No promotions within MD or appointments to senior managing directors (SMDs) (until June 2025),” it said in a blog post.
Last year, Accenture skipped salary hikes for its India-based employees. Accenture had deferred promotions to those at the levels of MDs and appointing senior managing directors (SMDs) until June this year. Last year, Accenture promoted 97,000 people globally through June 1, including 702 to MDs and 64 to SMDs. Accenture will roll out promotions to some of its employees in December this year, while the rest will be in June next year. Accenture has over 3 lakh employees in India out of the 7.3 lakh employees it has globally.
When TOI reached out to Accenture, the company said, “We are permanently changing our primary promotion date from December to June, which is when we have better visibility of our clients’ planning and demand.”
