Agra: A man on the run for 29 years after he was charged in an attempt to murder case in 1995 was finally arrested on Monday. Accused Indrapal Singh (now 60 years) went into hiding after shooting at a man, who suffered a bullet injury.
Indrapal, a resident of Rajpur under Hathras Junction police station, was finally traced to a village in Bulandshahr with a "different name and appearance".

The case under IPC section 307 was registered in 1995. The accused had failed to appear before court for the required evidence and proceedings, and subsequently fled, prompting the court to issue a warrant for his arrest. Hathras SP Nipun Agarwal had launched a "targeted campaign to ensure his arrest".
Through a combination of sustained investigation and technical support from the surveillance cell, the team of cops managed to reach the accused following a tip-off from an informer on Monday. They found that Indrapal, who was around 30 when he "disappeared", was living in Narora, Bulandshahr.
Hathras Junction SHO Yogesh Kumar said on Tuesday, "When police started inquiring about the accused, there was no trace of him in the village. A careful investigation and tireless efforts of multiple teams led the cops to Narora village... Indrapal was produced before the magistrate and sent to jail."
