Devendra Pratap Singh is first CoE of UPESSC
Prayagraj: Devendra Pratap Singh has been appointed the first controller of examinations (CoE) of Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) for a period of three years.
The notification regarding this was issued on Monday by special secretary of the govt Girijesh Kumar Tyagi.
Singh, who had earlier worked as the CoE of Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University, was directed to take charge immediately.

"I thank all my well-wishers and the govt for entrusting me with this important responsibility. I would like to assure all aspirants and my higher officials that me and my office would leave no stone unturned to ensure timely conduct and results of the exams conducted by the commission from time to time, and that too with utmost proficiency and transparency," said Singh.
Earlier on Sept 1, Prof Kirti Pandey of Gorakhpur University was made the chairman of the commission almost a year after formation of the Prayagraj-based body.
The CoE is responsible for the arrangement of examination centres, centre superintendents and room inspectors, allotment of roll numbers to the candidates and the arrangement of admit cards, the process of selection of candidates for various categories of posts till forwarding the panel of candidates selected in the process of advertisement for inviting applications, proper and timely scrutiny of application forms.
This ‘all-in-one commission' will do away with the existing recruitment boards and will be responsible for hiring teachers in govt-run and aided schools and colleges in UP.
The Act of the new commission was passed by the cabinet on Aug 21, 2023. After that, the rules were approved on Nov 13 last year. On March 15, this year, 12 members were appointed in the commission and on July 18, the secretary took charge. Out of the four posts of deputy secretary, only one is occupied by the acting deputy secretary.
