Prayagraj: Noted city-based choreographer Supriya Singh Rawat, who performed city's traditional ‘Dhediya' folk dance in foreign countries, is currently imparting training to as many as 15 artists of the Katra Ramlila committee to perform various episodes of Ramlila in different dance forms, including traditional folk dances such as Gari, Mohiniyattam, and Bharatnatyam.
Prominent artists, who are assigned to perform characters like Lord Ram, Goddess Sita, demon king Ravan, and others, are spending over four to five hours daily to learn all dance forms.
Talking to TOI, Supriya said, "This time, Katra Ramlila is all set to perform a total of 11 episodes based on songs and dance, and the majority of episodes would have traditional dance forms like the birth of Lord Ram, Ram Sita Vivah, and the Badhaiyan episode." She, however, says, "We are all working hard, and artists take part in four and a half hours training sessions to do justice to their roles." Supriya's dance troupe from Sangam city was selected for Vande Bharatam Nritya Utsav to perform at the Republic Day parade, where they gave a 12-minute performance.
