‘Threat’ to witness in Muniratna case

Bengaluru: The son of a witness in a rape case against RR Nagar MLA M Muniratna has lodged a complaint against a woman named Sunanda, alleging that she issued life threats to his mother and family.
The complainant, identified as Rakesh, told police that Sunanda, aka Sunandamma, visited his houseSaturday morning and threatened his mother, one of themain witnesses in the case of sexual abuse registered at Kaggalipura police station of Ramanagara district, saying that she should not give a statement against Muniratna.
According to police, Rakesh claimed that Sunanda issued life threats to his mother andother family members if she dared to give a witness statement. Based on his statement, Yeshwantpur police have registered a case against Sunanda under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), section 232 (threatening any person to give false evidence) and 351 (criminal intimidation).
