Chandigarh: Municipal Corporation Chandigarh on Monday organised a Safaimitras Suraksha Shivir as part of the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign. The Shivir, organised at the Rani Laxmi Bai Mahila Bhawan, aims to prioritise the health, safety, and well-being of the dedicated sanitation employees (safai karamcharis). The initiative is in collaboration with the TCI Foundation and Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (HBCHRC), supporting the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM).
The month-long health camp will screen all sanitation workers involved in garbage collection from households and commercial areas, as well as those working at Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs). Key highlights of the cancer screening camp include oral cancer and Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) screenings for males, along with oral, breast, and cervical cancer screenings for females. The camp also offers free medical check-ups.
