The accused were identified as Nikhil Senapati, Netaji Das, Sujit Kumar Panda and Ajay Mohapatra of Cuttack. Police said some people were inducing two attendants to get them blood for Rs 5,000.
Following a tip-off, a team from Mangalabag police station raided the spot and nabbed the four accused.
Police said during interrogation the accused confessed that they regularly visited the blood bank and persuaded people to take blood from them and charged anything between Rs 1,500 and Rs 5,000 but they deceived them after taking the money.
DCP (Cuttack) Prakash Raj said, “Four accused have been arrested and probe is on. A team has been engaged to monitor such activities in the blood bank. We will take stringent action against any culprit.” Police suspect the involvement of blood bank staff and paramedics in the racket.
