Kerala tourist arrested for assaulting GMC doctor
Panaji: Goa police arrested Arif Siddique, a tourist from Kerala, for allegedly assaulting a doctor at GMC when he was brought in for treatment on Monday.
Police said that Siddique had come to Goa with his friends a week ago. All his friends returned, leaving him behind as he did not want to go back.
While patrolling on Monday, a police control room vehicle noticed him lying by the roadside at Siolim.

Police said that he was shifted to the Siolim primary health centre for treatment but was then referred to the North Goa District Hospital at Mapusa.
He was later shifted to GMC for further treatment of his leg.
Dr Mahesh Panche, CMO, casualty department, GMC, in his complaint, said that at 4.25pm Siddique tried to slap him, and when the complainant tried to avoid the same, Siddique hit him on his chest.
In his complaint, he said that Siddique also tried to hit him with the saline stand present next to him, thereby obstructing the complainant while discharging his lawful duties of examining the patients in the casualty department.
Agasaim PI Anant Gaonkar said that Siddique was arrested, and after being produced before the judicial magistrate first class in Panaji, he was remanded in judicial custody.
