Political motives spur fake videos, reports: Sawant

Panaji: Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Sunday said that fake videos and articles have been circulated and published in an attempt to disturb the double-engine govt in the state and to malign him as he is doing good work for Goa.
He said that in the past one week, there has been a systemic campaign in the media, including social media, to tarnish his image as the chief minister.“I know this has been done with political motives,” Sawant said. The chief minister said that looking at the video, one can easily draw the conclusion of the intention behind it. “The intention is clear. The fake video was created to disturb the double-engine govt in the state and to malign me as I’m doing good work for the state as its the chief minister, and most of the Goans know who is behind the video,” Sawant said. He said that he has answered whatever questions were raised on the floor of the House, and now video has been created to raise the questions once again among the public.
The video mentions land grab in Goa, Sawant said, adding, “I’m the first chief minister of the state to form a special investigation team (SIT) to act against the land grabbing in the state, though it has been happening for almost 20 years.”
He said that he acted against the scam, which was run with political support and in collusion with govt officials. “Some people are disturbed by this action, and that is the reason they have created a video on this against him,” Sawant said. On the Zuari land scam, he said that land was provided to the Zuari company for industrial purposes even before he was born, and he has no connection to it. “Some agents have changed the land use and started to sell the plots, and in a few days, the people behind this will also get exposed, and the public will know who was behind it and who was asking for commission for whom,” Sawant said. On the job scam video, the CM said that he was the first to bring the Goa Staff Selection Commission and decided to recruit employees in all govt departments in a fair and transparent manner.
