Guwahati: A fire broke out in Dispur’s Sorumotoria locality during early hours on Thursday, causing damage to several shops and affecting businesses.
However, no casualties were reported in the incident as per the information provided by state disaster response force personnel.
Property and other items worth Rs 10 lakh was damaged in the blaze. Rescue personnel were able to save remaining items.
Three fire tenders from Chandmari, Panbazar and Lakhra fire and emergency services were deployed to manage the situation.
Chandmari station in-charge Brajendra Kalita said, “The fire department was informed at 7 am and the entire operation lasted for over two hours.” He added that the fire started in a tent warehouse behind the shops.
