Dharwad: The South Western Railway has been allocated Rs 6,493.9 crore in the Union Budget-2024-2025. Of this Rs 1,448.9 crore has been allocated for construction of new lines while Rs 1,241 crore is for doubling of tracks.
According to SWR, the Centre has allocated Rs 961.2 crore for creating passenger facilities, Rs 349.4 crore for construction of road over bridges and under bridges and Rs 145.8 crore for traffic facilities.
As many as 51 stations in SWR have been selected for development under Amrit Bharat Station Yojana. Gubbi in Bengaluru division and Shravanabelagola stations have been added to the list. The work on development of Yeshwantpur and Cantonment railway stations has already commenced.
