Heavy rains & gusty winds lash Hyderabad, yellow alert in Telangana
Hyderabad: After a week-long dry spell, heavy rains lashed Hyderabad with thunderstorms and heavy winds, leaving many areas waterlogged. The downpour, which began on Friday night, continued relentlessly throughout Saturday, turning roads into rivers and bringing traffic to a standstill, especially in Begumpet, Qutubullapur, Madhapur and the Old City.
Within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits, Ganaaka Bhavan in Khairatabad recorded the highest rainfall at 79 mm, closely followed by CESS Khairatabad with 74.3 mm.

Other areas also experienced significant downpours, with Langar Houz and Golkonda receiving 73.8 mm, Karwan and Asif Nagar 65.8 mm, Patigadda 58.5 mm, and Gunfoundry near Nampally recording 57.3 mm.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the entire state, warning of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 30-40 km/h over the next five days. The warning covers several districts, including Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Medchal Malkajgiri and others. "Residents are advised to remain cautious as the inclement weather continues," an IMD official said.
