Hyderabad horror: Woman smothered, robbed at home in Mallampet

HYDERABAD: A woman identified as Boddula Sharada was brutally murdered by unidentified persons at her residence in Mallampet on the city outskirts late on Monday night. The suspects also robbed her of gold jewellery, police said.
According to police, Sharada and her son reside in an apartment at Mallampet under the Dundigal police station of Cyberabad. On Monday morning, her son, Sai Vinay, left for work, leaving her at home as usual.Around 8.30pm, before returning home, he called her on the phone. When there was no response after repeated calls, he contacted a neighbour to check on her.
The neighbour found Sharada lying in an unconscious state and informed her son, who rushed home and alerted the police. Authorities suspect the culprits may have smothered her and stolen gold earrings and a nose pin. A murder case has been registered, and further investigation is underway, said an official.
